office reveal

With school just around the corner I thought it was only fitting to share some of the work Jake and I (and Mom!) have been doing to put Jake and my office together. I initially loved that this room had a slight vaulted ceiling because it makes it feel a bit more larger then it really it is.

My goal is to eventually transform this room into the ultimate feminine workspace.  Jake already refers to the office as my "dojo"which is a Japanese term for a "place one goes to learn the arts" (wikipedia). So far I've been putting everything together to get it ready for school and I painted all of the artwork myself over past few months.

It's times like this when I wish I had a little better of a camera and photo editing software. It really is a nice workspace even if my photos don't capture it quite perfectly. :)

This adorable bird painting I made with watercolors and gold leaf. I attempted to recreate this Anthropologie version. Mine is a bit slimmer (and cheaper!!), and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

My desk and chair can be found online at Target, and that fun pillow is actually a remnant from our wedding table runners that Grandma Bell made for us!

I found a black wastebasket at Bed Bath and Beyond and spray painted it gold - love how it turned out!

The abstract navy paintings are copies of West Elm pieces that are no longer in stock but the originals can be seen here .

A few weekends ago while garage sale-ing with Mom and Anna, I saw an old black and white Vogue photo which inspired me to maybe even start a small collection of 3-5 for that
above-my-bookcase area.

And a couple other fun additions will hopefully include:

- faux taxidermy
This golden faux taxidermy is one that I like

- Moroccan pouf in blush or gold (

And of course I'll always be on the lookout for trinkets to make my bookcase a little more glamorous. I recently found free shipping and ordered this gem .

Office additions I've made can be found here

  1. You made that bird painting? It's adorable! You really do have a creative side. By the way, the home office looks lovely. I'm glad you kept the decors minimal, and the desk clutter-free. It's best to have a distraction free workstation, after all. Hahaha! Thanks for sharing that! All the best! :)
